Moonbase and Apollo FTW: The Final Chapter
In 2023 Apollo turned from creator funding to Web3 gaming, and in March 2024 it replaced its token. This page covers that final chapter.
The Moonbase vision
Through 2023 the team, operating as Eastedge Studios, wrote about building a game ecosystem called Moonbase. Its posts covered choosing Unity with Microsoft's PlayFab as the game backend, and using the EIP-1967 transparent proxy pattern so that in-game NFT contracts could be upgraded after deployment. A Moonbase build was later listed on itch.io under the Apollo FTW name.
Apollo Team NFTs
Announced in November 2023, the collection had 356 public NFTs caricaturing the core team. Stated perks included a special Moonbase leaderboard with higher weekly token payouts, in-game avatar status and bonus tokens for certain rare pieces. 70% of ETH proceeds were allocated to team and development costs and 30% to DAO buybacks.
The FTW migration
After a January 2024 migration update, FTW launched on March 13, 2024. The team said the move was needed to "better support our long term gaming vision". APOLLO holders could migrate at 1,000 APOLLO to 1 FTW. FTW dropped the transaction taxes that had defined APOLLO, so it also dropped the Creator Prize Fund mechanism.
Apollo FTW today
The apollocrypto.org domain redirected to the Apollo FTW website from late March 2024 until at least March 2025. That site advertised the Moonbase game and an NFT mint. FTW is shown on CoinMarketCap only as an untracked preview listing. This archive has not found evidence of meaningful activity after 2024.
