Creators Can Fund Their Next Project With Apollo: Here's How (Archived)

Archive page · Last reviewed October 2026

Archived guide, originally published on the Apollo Crypto blog in mid-2022, explaining how creators could get funded and how holders voted. Summarised and preserved by this archive.

This is a historical document. Apollo Creator Contests are no longer running, and the nomination and voting tools described here are offline.

For creators

Any up-and-coming creator could enter: musicians, painters, photographers, filmmakers, crafts makers and social media creators.

  1. Nominate yourself through the Apollo DAO website. The nomination was written to the DAO's database on IPFS and also recorded on the blockchain for auditing.
  2. Share your nomination link with fans, friends and family so they could vote for you. The project argued that bringing your audience would raise both your own chances and Apollo's visibility.
  3. Win funding. The creator with the most votes at the end of the weekly cycle received that week's prize from the Creator Prize Fund.

For voters

  1. Set up a DeFi wallet and hold APOLLO in it.
  2. Connect the wallet to the Apollo DAO site through WalletConnect, proving control of the wallet.
  3. Discover nominees through creator promotion or the DAO site's weekly list.
  4. Vote either directly on-chain (paying gas) or with a signed message stored on IPFS (free).
  5. Follow the contest on the DAO site's leaderboard, which showed time remaining and the prize pool.

Results

After each cycle the DAO published a complete summary to IPFS listing every nominee, every voter and the hash of the vote, with a pointer written on-chain. Anyone could check the outcome independently.

What happened next

This process ran through Season 1 and Season 2 in 2022 and early 2023 before the project moved to gaming. See Creator Contests for the seasons and why Apollo Crypto failed for the wider story.
